SAR logistics link joins Gulf ports to Jordan, north Saudi

Saudi Arabia Railways launched an international freight rail corridor linking King Abdulaziz Port (Dammam), King Fahd Industrial Port, and Jubail Commercial Port to the Al Haditha border crossing.

The corridor will enhance connectivity between Jordan and cities in Saudi Arabia’s north, and support regional trade through a high-efficiency land route.

SAR said the service opens direct routes to Jordan and northern markets, supporting exports and re-exports through a more efficient and reliable transport network, Saudi Press Agency reported.

The 1,700-km route enables two-way cargo flows between eastern ports and Al Haditha, onward to Jordan and northern destinations, enhancing flexibility and supply chain integration. It is expected to halve transit times compared with other land freight options, with each train carrying up to 400 TEUs to boost speed and efficiency.

SAR added the corridor will shorten journey times and remove thousands of trucks from roads, helping preserve infrastructure, improve safety and reduce carbon emissions.
